Yes. I gave 5 stars to this little very basic, cafeteria style, but friendly and tasty place. We came here after the Sunday service at Maranatha Baptist Church - honestly - because it was the only place in the vicinity that was open on a Sunday afternoon. But what a pleasant surprise. You eat the menu that is offered on that day - which was chicken and coleslaw and corn bread and greens this week. The folks are friendly. The food is fair priced and generously served, the tables are clean and the staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. I hope to make it back to Plains again, and on Sunday, so I can visit The Silo again.

Went here after attending service at Marantha Baptist Church. This seemed to be a popular go-to after service at the church, as I saw a lot of familar faces from the congregation and many of them had recommended the restaurant to us as well (or I guess not much is opened in the small town).
The Silo is a small, meat and three, cafeteria-style restaurant, with a small, humble range of choices obviously cooked fresh. There really was only a plate option available with your choice of entree (fried chicken/meatloaf), 2 sides, cornbread, dessert (only pie that day), and sweet tea.
The chicken was piping hot when we got it, tender and juicy but could've had a little more seasoning. The mac and mashed potatoes were decent, as well as the cornbread which had a nice bit of crust.
I really liked the peanut butter pie I got, not too sweet and light enough to finish after a pretty heavy meal. -

Honestly, it was just okay for me. We went on 10/14/18 after attending a Marantha Baptist Church service. They were doing buffet style, they may do that all the time, not sure. For $9.95 you got, an entree (Fried Chicken Quarter or Baked Spaghetti), 2 veggies (MacCheese, Green Beans, Rutabaga, couple of others), Peach Cobbler, biscuit/cornbread, and tea.
For a bakery, a DEEP south one at that, you would expect the cobbler to be really good...not so much. It was all edible, but something was off, perhaps it just wasn't seasoned enough. Like there wasn't any sugar or salt in anything.
Everybody was super friendly, and these folks were FAST! The restaurant was clean and comfortable.
It's one of the only food options in town, and the only thing available on this Sunday. -

Southern comfort food, tasty and satisfying. There's a bakery too. All the muffins I tried were great, the banana muffins are on another level entirely! A limited selection of entrees, but the specials featured are outstanding. Same owner as the Anderson Station restaurant in Andersonville, Ga. Both restaurants are table service and offer a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, among the best there is.
